Ciechanow City Mission

 CIECHANOW CITY MISSION

The vision for this city mission in Poland became clear at the City Mission World Association conference in Glasgow in 2000.

Birmingham City Mission has partnered with Ciechanów since its beginning.

Leader Przemek Bartczak writes: “BCM’s financial help has enabled us to develop our resources to meet the growing needs of our work. We have also appreciated BCM’s practical help and their encouragement and spiritual support are very important to us.”

Current activities in Ciechanów
• a kids’ club every weekday afternoon
• 5 tonnes of food distributed each month
• help with clothing, buying medicines and coal in winter
• wheelchairs provided for the disabled
• regular meetings for women and families
• evangelistic meetings – films or concerts with a message
• 100 children participating in summer camps

Much spiritual seed has been sown and three families have become believers and joined the church. An excellent relationship has been built with the city council, who appreciate all the social work being done by the mission’s two full-time staff and 25 volunteers.

BCM teams have visited Ciechanów each year, doing community work and cleaning up the city; renovating and decorating poorer families’ homes; visiting schools and teaching English – as well as bringing Gospel-focused input and joining in church-based events.

Future plans include...

• a daily kindergarten for kids from dysfunctional families
• a charity shop / Christian bookshop
• work among problem youth
