Restless for Mission is our annual conference where we encourage and empower the Church in Edinburgh to do mission. What do we mean by that? To love our city as God loves it - to love those who are struggling with poverty, mental health issues, loneliness, or isolation, and to serve them well.

The Bible says that God is "the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). We believe we are called to serve the Church in Edinburgh, to be there for all of you who are out there loving our city.

The 2021 Conference

This year, our Restless for Mission Conference will be free! We will have two sessions with amazing and encouraging conversations, worship, and fellowship. It will be on Zoom but it will be great! Even at times like this, God is still at work. We want to provide you with some tools and encouragement to partner in mission with Him!

Session One

1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

You'll have the opportunity to choose between two talks that will be happening at the same time. (You will be asked to choose your preferred Track on the day of the conference).

- Track A: “Church and Local Mission” - Rev. Charles Maasz, CEO, Glasgow City Mission.

Rev. Charles Maasz is a mission hero and will be sharing about his experience in doing mission in one's local context and about the key role of the church at this difficult time.

- Track B: “African Pearl” Dr. Pamela Brown-Peterside, Fund-raiser, London City Mission.

Dr. Pamela Brown-Peterside was born and raised in Nigeria, of a Nigerian father and a mother from Northern Ireland. She received a Ph.D. in Sociomedical Sciences and is a passionate story teller. She has worked in the American mid-west, Harlem, the South Bronx, Uganda, and now she lives in London working for London City Mission.

Session Two

3:00 pm - 4:15 pm

“A Place at the Table”

In 2020 we started a series of conversations with people who are black and from other ethnic groups, giving our team and volunteers an opportunity to listen to and learn from the stories of those we don't tend to hear from much. At the conference, we'll have a chat with Natalia Pelttari, the team leader of Salaam refugee support work, who will be interviewed by Dr. Pamela Brown-Peterside.

City Vision prayer time

We believe in the power of prayer, and everything we do is deeply rooted in an ongoing conversation with our Father God. That is why we will have a dedicated time to pray creatively as a response to all we'll hear and learn at the conference!
